Scottsdale locals will tell you that there is always something new and interesting to experience in the city. Arizona is home to views such as Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. This wonderful city is full of adventure and most of the excitement is best found by people of the area. We asked one of our very own Frontdesk employees who is currently in Scottsdale to explain some of her favorites from the area and she did not disappoint.
Morning & Coffee
Start your day off at Palabras. This coffee shop doesn’t just provide a quaint breakfast, but it will serve up a fresh look as well. This hair salon has a trendy, minimal style and also hosts local artists. Coffee here is inspired by Spanish culture and the baristas take their job very seriously; every drink is made special and is served with a golden coaster.
The Phoenix Farmers Market opens at 8AM in downtown Phoenix. Local vendors come out with their freshest produce and there are a vast range of items, from coffee to spices! A local favorite are the potato tacos and the soft steamed bao buns, along with the pork belly bao bun. They also have a cafe next to the public market that provides coffee, drinks and food.
Food & Drinks
At Taco Chelo, tacos are their specialty! Our Frontdesk employee suggests the Carne Asada tacos, chips and salsa with guacamole along with their chicharrón shareable with a Mezcal specialty drink. This small spot is home to great food and friendly customer service.
One of two locations, the Arizona Wilderness DTPHX local brewery provides both indoor and outdoor community seating with outdoor games such as Jenga and Corn Hole. A local fan favorite is any style of the several Gose styled beer. It may be a brewery but their food menu does not disspoint. Visitors can share a few smaller bites or grab a burger for themselves.
Activities & Attractions
Prepare yourself with lots of water! The 4.2 mile hike isn’t short, but the view at Devils Bridge is definitely worth it. The hike takes you through Sedona, Arizona and the views are incredible!
The national monument is located in Yavapai County, Arizona. Both this and the Tuzigoot are both peaceful spots to enjoy the scenery and to learn the history of the area. Not only do you see the history, but feel it as well.
Hole in the Rock
Another historical landmark in Phoenix is the Hole in the Rock. Located between Phoenix and Scottsdale, off of Papago Park, Phoenix Zoo and the Botanical Desert, this is an easy hike that includes breathtaking sights. Once you reach the top, you are able to sit inside of the Hole or enjoy the surrounding area.
The Rainbow Ryders
Arguably one of the best ways to take in Arizona is by flight. The Rainbow Ryders is a hot air balloon ride service and takes the guests over the Sonoran Desert for sunrise. They provide transportation from their office to take off location and back, and they will explain everything to make it a unique adventure. The ride is about an hour long and once you’ve reached the bottom they provide a small complimentary breakfast with mimosas!
