Don’t just run out to Costco or Macy’s and grab any old luggage off the rack. Do some research. Brands such as Away and Delsey are just a few companies that go above and beyond your ordinary luggage. Look for a luggage set that is durable, secure, has four wheels, and offers compartments that make sense for your belongings. Bonus points if your luggage allows you to charge your phone. Lastly, make sure you have a great backpack, too. It will pay for itself many times over throughout your career.
2. Research Can Be Rewarding
There are dozens of credit cards that claim to be the best card for those who spend more time in the air or a hotel than in the comfort of their own home. However, you can’t necessarily try a few out before deciding which card suits you best.
It definitely pays to do your homework when choosing a credit card for business travel – literally and figuratively. Do you value miles, cash back, or gift cards? There’s a credit card for all of those out there for you. There is a wealth of information out there. Take advantage of it before making your decision.
3. Develop a Solid Plan for the Airport
The more prepared you are the more likely you are to have a great experience at an airport. Preparation is more than just figuring out how you’re going to get there.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself before you leave for the airport:
- Do you have the mobile app for the airline you’re traveling with?
- Can you check in before getting to the airport?
- Where are the Uber and Lyft checkpoints for the airport you’re arriving at?
Also, if you’re traveling more than a few times each year, then TSA Precheck is an absolute necessity. It saves you so much time and is worth the small fee.
Airports can be stressful. They are especially stressful during certain times of day, times of the year, or in certain cities. Do your research. Take a look at the layout of the airport. Know your terminal, figure out where you want to grab a bite to eat once you’re through security.
4. Consider Your Feet
Traveling requires a ton of walking. Whether it’s through an airport, through a major city, or just walking around the office, having a great pair of shoes just makes everything better. Not all shoes are created equal. The old adage of you get what you pay for definitely rings true in the shoe industry.
Some people love shoes and reading this will just give them the urge to go out and buy a new pair. However, some of us need to hear this. There’s just no need for a shoe with a wooden sole.
